I strongly suggest buying HDMI cables on eBay for a few bucks instead of at brick and mortar electronics stores or Wal-Mart, where HDMI cables cost $30-$60 each (total ripoff!) Don't believe the salesmen's lies about their HDMI cables being better, they are no different at all.Īll in all, I highly recommend this device.
I use HDMI cables to connect the BluRay to the receiver (or directly to the TV) and hook up could not be any easier.
It does not have the ability to update the firmware over the network either, but you can use a PC or Mac to burn a CD/DVD with the most recent firmware update and easily update the player's firmware by playing the disc. This is not a problem for me since my TV, XBox360 and Media PC all have the ability to stream NetFlix movies. It does not have an ethernet port therefore it does not have features like NetFlix streaming. Because of this, I can not advise you on the original remote's features or shortcomings, since I've never used it.
The Sony receiver and Sony TV remotes I have work fine for controlling this BluRay player, so I really did not need the remote that originally came with it. In fact, I saved a lot of money on this BluRay player because I bought it used on eBay without a remote for about 1/4th of the going price simply because it was missing the remote. Sony does an excellent job of making it's equipment work together, which is one of the nicest features of Sony stuff. When I turn on the Bluray player, the TV and receiver also turn on, and change to the correct inputs needed to watch (and hear) the BluRay player. When I turn on the TV, the receiver comes on automatically and changes to the correct input.
Nov firmware pro Sony Blu-ray Disc pehrvae BDP-S1E a BDP-S300 aktualizuje pehrvae na verzi 3.20 a pin tyto hlavn benefity: zlepuje BD-Java kompatibilitu, a tm interaktivitu nkterch BD-ROM, a umouje kompatibilitu s formty BD-R/RE(BDMV). I use a lot of Sony equipment (LCD TV, Receiver, Bluray player) and it was very easy to configure Sony TV's remote to control all of the devices with Sony's BraviaSync. Aktualizace firmware pro pehrvae BDP-S300 a BDP-S1E. It just takes some getting used to the difference in load-time between BluRay Discs and standard DVDs. It also takes longer than I would like just to turn on (maybe 20-30 seconds or longer if there is a disc already in the drive). When I say slow, I mean it takes 10-20 seconds. This player seems very slow, but you have to keep in mind that all the other Bluray players are slow at this, too. This outputs a beautiful picture and is one of Sony's cheapest Bluray players.Īll Bluray players take awhile to load the content from the discs because of the huge amount of data on each disc. All in all this is a great unit and I am very satisfied with it. I have wanted a decent Blue Ray player for a while now because I like the fact they still play regular DVD's as well but I also am-going to start adding Blue Ray discs to my collection. This unit is pretty deep like a higher quality receiver usually is so keep that in mind if you have a wire way between shelves or doors on the front you keep closed when not in use. One thing to note if your entertainment center is a little short on space. Just power it up and let it go through the motions and all will be good. It is just as a lot of other people have said a little slower to load up a disc but it really isn't a horribly long time just not what most people are used to. I like the idea that it has the standard RCA style 5.1 Surround Sound outputs for those who have older receivers which don't have the digital inputs or the decoders. Sound quality is great as well as the picture quality. Very smooth and quiet in operation and not overly complicated to use.
